QUICKTIP: FINDING THE HIDDEN MENUS IN NOTES 8
It seems that Lotus made some simplifications of the menu items in the move from Notes 6 and 7 to 8. They are all still there, just turned off by default. To reactivate them, Lotus just came out with a technote on the topic (under #1268395).
To enable the Advanced Menus in the Notes 8 client select View > Advanced Menus. The Advanced Menus will always be enabled (unless you disable them by toggling off the View > Advanced Menus choice), even after you have restarted Notes. You can also push out a Notes.ini change of MenusAdvanced=1

Configuring a Document Imaging Server (or other foreign entity) to send mail thru Domino
Remember to put the IP # of the Imager in the Configuration Document under SMTP Inbound Relay:

Using Upgrade by Mail feature
Be sure to have a "public directory" on the network, where you will store a copy of the upgrade CD, that all your users map to with the same drive letter (i.e. G:). This drive letter is then used in the notification that is sent out to the users.

Be sure to upgrade your Lotus Notes CLIENT before upgrading your mail file templates.
If you don't you'll find that some of the features we have grown accustomed to are missing! Best to get your local client upgraded first... then worry about the template of the mail files.

What other choice do I have?
While Domino will also serve mail to those POP clients and browser based clients, it also serves mail to non-POP clients, such as Lotus Notes and its browser-based companion: iNotes*. Of course these aren't free and residing on your computer when you buy it from the store, but then you've heard it before...you get what you pay for. IBM charges a small fee for licensing Lotus Notes clients, and with that you receive many features in return that most other email clients don't offer AND you also receive free updates! They charge a very small annual renewal fee that is much smaller than most of the Microsoft upgrade fees and if you would like more information on Lotus Notes, please feel free to email us. We are an IBM Business Partner and can answer most of your questions.
